Glock training

Good Afternoon World

Well I just got back from the Glock Professional training facility up in Smyrna Georgia where I attended the Glock Armour’s course. It is a great training program, I learned a lot about Glock’s and it has changed my mind about them. My first love will always be 1911’s but Glock is now much higher up in my ratings book. The course is very well presented and comprehensive. It covers everything from Glock history, through gun functionality, routine maintenance and service and tear down and reassembly down to the last component. We got lot’s of disassembly and assembly practice during the course and we learned that Parts are not always just parts;-). Over all it was well worth the 6 hour drive up there and the good news is it only took 5 & 1/2 coming back. But then again I got an early start this morning.

So I am now and official Glock Armour and that is one more new service that Shooting Starr Sports can now offer our customers.

Stay tuned and Stay Safe out there in Reality

A Soldier’s Final Inspection

It’s always Veteran’s Day in Heaven!

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The Soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

‘Step forward now, Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?’

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
‘no, Lord, I guess I ain’t.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can’t always be a saint.

I’ve had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I’ve been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn’t mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills just got too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I’ve wept unmanly tears.

I know I don’t deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you’ve a place for me here, Lord,
It needn’t be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

‘Step forward now, you Soldier,
You’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets,
You’ve done your time in Hell.’

ATI Introduces the Omni Hybrid Maxx Rifle

ATI Introduces the Omni Hybrid Maxx Rifle.

Here is an interesting article about one of the new Hybrid rifles where polymer is replacing aluminum for gun parts. The real remaining question is how long will it really last? Will it survive say 50,000 rounds? The article talks about testing for 2000 rounds which for many guns is a life time of shooting. But a real life cycle fatigue test would run at least ten times that many rounds through it .   So time will tell but it is certainly promising.

Another Great Range Day

Well it was a beautiful day at the range today but a bit chilly at least by my thin blood standards;-)  Spent the morning shooting pistols from 5 to 15 yards and then knocking down steel plates to wrap it up. All went great except my favorite 22 S&W semi-auto decided to die today. Not sure why yet but it kept locking up tight and would not fire, just a click and then nothing. Got really hard to pull it apart so I am thinking the firing pin or the barrel retaining spring pin is jamming and not aligning properly? Got to take it to the shop tomorrow and find out. But I did give my new Alien Gear Inside the Waistband holster a good workout on it’s first full wear day. So far very comfortable with the neoprene lining in it. I will post photos and more info as I break it in.

Well take care, Stay Safe and warm

Great Day

Well all, it’s Sunday morning and yesterday was a great day for teaching. Had a very good CCW class with old friends and made some new ones. After the classroom work went out to the range and had a great time shooting. The weather was super a little cool for my blood but perfect for everyone else. Started with 22, then 38 Spl, 9 MM and then a few tried my 1911 in 45 and I can honestly say a good time was had by all. I really enjoy teaching new shooters and watching their faces light up the first time they pull the trigger and hit the target. It just brightens everyone’s day especially mine. It was really nice having my dear wife helping out this time as well. Our range days together are the best days of our week and this week we got to have two of them:-)

So thanks to my students for coming and having some fun. Hope to see you again real soon at the range. Remember to keep practicing.

take care out there

The Ad The NFL Didn’t Want You To See! | USCCA

This may be super bowl weekend but you need to see this because the NFL will not let you apparently protecting your family, and your life are not on their play list. But all the drugs, DUI’s and other incidents that their players have is ok? What kind of mess up set of real priorities is that? So check out this and then think about what is really important to you and your family.

Gun Show Sunday

Well yesterday was busy here at the show lot’s of lookers a few buyers. Interesting there seemed to be as many or more people coming into the show from off the street trying to sell there guns then there were people buying guns.  For you loyal readers a little tip for you, if you want to sell your gun for what it is really worth a Gun Show is not the best place. A dealer at the show is here to make a profit (well hopefully anyway) and in order to do so they must buy wholesale and sell retail or at least close to it. So the average dealer will offer you 25 % or more less than your gun is worth so they can try and build in a profit margin and cover carrying costs until it sells.  So good readers if you want to sell your guns, try on line first, with Armslist

http://www.armslist.com/ for a good start or you can try Gun Broker as well.

So  that’s my tip for the day;-)
Good luck and take care out there
