Why?

This week I have gotten 4 gun magazines through my various subscriptions and what I don’t understand is why they all have different dates on them?
These are the supposed publication dates for them:

1. May

2. June

3.  July

4. July/August

This kind of thing just makes you wonder “Why?” and who came up with this BS in the first place? It is the first week of May not June, or July so why do my magazines try and convince me otherwise? Does this mean I am getting Gun News and Info months in advance of the rest of the world? I don’t think so, looks and sounds more like marketing BS to me. So I guess we can all just blame it on the auto industry for starting to bring out new model years early.

Well those are my random thoughts for today.

Getting Ready for Hurricane Season

Well it’s the first week of May and we are now less than a month from the start of the 2015 Hurricane Season here in Florida. So in order to help out your season’s preparations here is a link to the U.S. Government’s disaster preparation web site. http://www.ready.gov/

Now I know what many of you are thinking but Uncle Sam really knows a lot about disaster’s after all just look at Washington DC they deal in them daily, but honestly this is a good web site for getting started in disaster preparations. So check it out, there are a lot of a good sites on the this topic on the web but too many of them are just trying to sell you something. The government one is not trying to sell anything, and looking is free.

take care and be safe

Glock training

Good Afternoon World

Well I just got back from the Glock Professional training facility up in Smyrna Georgia where I attended the Glock Armour’s course. It is a great training program, I learned a lot about Glock’s and it has changed my mind about them. My first love will always be 1911’s but Glock is now much higher up in my ratings book. The course is very well presented and comprehensive. It covers everything from Glock history, through gun functionality, routine maintenance and service and tear down and reassembly down to the last component. We got lot’s of disassembly and assembly practice during the course and we learned that Parts are not always just parts;-). Over all it was well worth the 6 hour drive up there and the good news is it only took 5 & 1/2 coming back. But then again I got an early start this morning.

So I am now and official Glock Armour and that is one more new service that Shooting Starr Sports can now offer our customers.

Stay tuned and Stay Safe out there in Reality

A Soldier’s Final Inspection

It’s always Veteran’s Day in Heaven!

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The Soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

‘Step forward now, Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?’

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
‘no, Lord, I guess I ain’t.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can’t always be a saint.

I’ve had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I’ve been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn’t mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills just got too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I’ve wept unmanly tears.

I know I don’t deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you’ve a place for me here, Lord,
It needn’t be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

‘Step forward now, you Soldier,
You’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets,
You’ve done your time in Hell.’
